I was looking for a sports drink to help during Insanity: The Ultimate Cardio Workout and Fitness DVD Program and P90X Extreme Home Fitness Workout Program – 13 DVDs, Nutrition Guide, Exercise Planner (especially Plyo). Most sports drinks are too sweet, full of junk, and loaded with sugar.
Hammer HEED has a nearly cultlike following, especially amongst hardcore bicyclists, and it’s easy to see why once you try it. It’s all natural with sugar substitutes, so you’re not drinking junk, which always seemed counterproductive to me considering you’re generally drinking these products while trying to stay healthy. It really does help with your stamina – it’s not going to make you able to run a marathon out of nowhere, of course, it’s not magic, but it definitely helped me last longer before bonking in more intense workouts. And best of all, the flavor is light, with just a hint of lemon-lime, so you’re not drinking something heavy that weighs your stomach down while you’re trying to work out.
I am definitely going to keep a supply of this in the cabinet going forward.

I have tried many other brands of energy and sports drinks. I prefer the non flavored version of HEED to Gatorade, Power Aid and something named Ultimate or Ultimax? That is awful tasting stuff. HEED works for me and keeps me going during the heat or cold on marathon and training walks.

My husband is a big cyclist…He rides everything from centuries to trails… even just a toot around the ‘hood with our toddler. He has been a Hammer Nutrition fan for years.
I found Heed and Gel to be a life saver when I was suffering from morning sickness!
We love Heed. I drink it after a hard day of gardening… my daughter (3) loves it just as a drink… which is great because it has no simple sugars. We’ve had the Lemon/lime, Orange and most recently Strawberry. So far I like the strawberry the least… but the kid likes it best….Dad could really care less as long as it’s Heed!
