My bumper had significant damage, but still passed my inspection. I did lease another vehicle from the same dealer, but does that really matter? Anyone have insight to how this happened. I know plenty of people that turned leases in with missing fog lamps, hail damage and huge dents but never had to pay a cent. Is this common?

How Did I Pass The Dealer Vehicle Inspection When My Lease Was Up?

I’ve been leasing for 25 years and have never paid a dime at lease-end for damages, even though I’ve had chipped windows, non-working equipment, and a number of minor dents and scraches.
I wouldn’t say this is common but lease companies that are associated with car manufacturers (Ford Motor Credit, GMAC, Honda Amercian Finance, etc.) are more likely to let things slide than a bank or credit union.
Unfortunately, leasing gets a bad name from those few people who have minor scratches and get charged for them — most likely by a bank or credit union.

Auto companies give you a certain level of allowed wear-and-tear… maybe it wasn’t as bad as you thoguht.
Maybe you got lucky and the guy didn’t look at the bumper.
If you leased through Honda, they give youa $1,500 credit toward anything that needs to be fixed….maybe that was it?
Did you pay the inspector off?
